    Stormwall Hill - Welsh/English Border.

Several trips up to stonewall hill over the last few weeks, lot's of bubbling cloud but no storms.

Until last night oBig Smile   I arrived up the hill at 8:30pm armed with camera, camcorder and laptop for mobile radar and there were a few distant flashes to the east and south east at this time, around 9.30pm fellow storm chaser Howard arrived with camera. Quite a few C-C and C-G were observed, no rain the rain band just missed us, but the wind direction was pretty interesting too, being a cool northerly for a while, then went very warm almost tropical from the south, then came from the west!

I drove home about 1.30am ish, and it was still lightning to my north by the time I got home.

Do you know what, I think lightning looks so much better at night in some ways, you can see it from so may more miles away too, nicely caught DanoApprove

Nice vid Dan oCool thanks for that oApprove Close nightime lightning is the best imo - a fairly rare beast in this neck of the woods - just a couple of nights per year on average SadGeeked

Good work Dan! Like John said, I can't remember the last time I saw a decent night time storm - either that or I sleep through them!

My last night storm on that level was in 2006  so they are quite rare sadly.

going through a few of fridays dark photos, some interesting cloud shapes at the base of this thundercloud.
