Below 2 until 15th, then 3 consecutive days of 2.4, followed by a 2.0 and 2.1

Lunchtime sunshine still feels warm, but the UV is a reduced stock now.

Last full post.

Will try to keep the thread alive over the winter.

Since 20th, range between 1.5 and 2.2, with the last 2.0 yesterday at Chilton.

Amazing how quickly it drops during October. However, if O3 is still lower than in February, we should still potentially be able to get a 2+ in the first week of November.

Edit: just checked Chilton's records back to 1990 (so 30 years). Never reached 2 in November!

Lerwick recorded 8 readings of 6 and above this summer, all post-solstice,  the highest being 6.7 3 times! Good reminder of how small UK is globally.

Highest in Chilton since last post, 1.6. Recent high 1.3 (1.4 in Camborne). Nice to see Gib still at 3.6 today!

With the UK best sites hardly reaching the mid 1s, I thought it was interesting that Gib managed a 5.2 on 1st November this year- well above any other November records I can find. Imagine it being November in Europe and we are at the top end of moderate UV. Must be very pleasant - short winter of S.A.D.

In Chilton, 1.5 on 3rd was the highest since the 8th November, which goes to show what a putrick and grim month November can be. Best at the moment is 1.2, and that's about as low as it needs to be. In 3 weeks, I will expect to see it crossing the 1.5 line again, and in 6 weeks the 1.8 mark is highly likely.

We've passed the solstice, and are as expected struggling along at 1.2, with barely 1.1 in the north; but Gib has had a stunning day, at 3.0, last beaten on 30th November.

Reading pulled a 1.5 today, beating Chilton and Camborne. Cruddy weather all month so far.

Cyprus a happy 3 today!

Interesting how Gib and Cyprus behaved last summer wrt 10+ indices. Gib managed its first 10 on 1st July, but the highest values were on 26/7 and - amazingly- 24/8 at 10.1

Didn't seem to harness the potential around the solstice at all.

Conversely Cyprus managed 11 on 4 out of 5 days between 23/6 and 27/6 but its last 10 was as early as 12/8.

Wasn't looking at Chilton Observatory back in 2017, but there were three 9+ days there (2 in June, 1 in July). Just for the record. Local recorders (including Pictures and GW) recorded in excess of 8, some on several days and close to 9.

Reading, Camborne and Chilton all making it to 1.6 today.

Here, despite a bit of a breeze, the sun is heating up anything darker than white.

Gib has had 3.9, 4, 3.9 during the last 3 days (including today).

Strength wise we are now the same as the last week of October I think

Even so, the twos are due!

Chilton reached 1.9 today, I've just noticed.

Reading and Chilton have both just scraped a 2 today. Hurrah! Must have had more sun than here- though this felt worthy while it was shining, didn't stay out for long.

Cloud today obviously, but serious sunburn risk in Gib: reached 6.0. At noon, under a benign HP >1020mb with a slight drift off the clean Atlantic.
