2s forecast from 10am to 2pm in places now, and 3s along south coast tomorrow (Sunday) and as far N as Blandford.

Yesterday Chilton reached 2.4 and Camborne 2.5

Well- Chilton reached 3.2 today and Camborne 3.6. Can't quite believe it myself. This equates, in solar angle, to the very end of September/ start of October. 3.2 of course is attainable at that time of year- but the thing is, this is the side of the winter solstice when equivalent solar elevations do not lead to equivalent UV indices, due to eg O3 levels. So- this one should be marked up.

Chilton and Reading have another 3 today

Reading had a happy 3.2 today and Chilton a creditable 3.5. Reckon that's good for this time- but v. impressed by a N. England 3. Get that vit D and keep the viruses away!

3.2 Reading; 3.6 Chilton. I am starting to think Chilton's figures are too often for logic higher than Reading's; sadly, they are posted more persistently.

Agree with both, WI and Tierra: Sunday to Tuesday we have 4s forecast. That was sudden.

3 as far north as Edinburgh on Monday. 'Seek shade during midday hours; cover up and wear sunscreen.' Really?

Met Office seem to widely be forecasting moderate UVIs on sunny days for Manchester now. I usually don't start tanning until the UV is around 4 though.

I have Chilton on a 4.0 and Reading at 3.8 today. Thoughts? This is as high as we get the equivalent other side of the solstice, when O3 is less.

Optimal conditions here today for maximum UV for the time of year. One never sees a clearer sky in this part of the world - not one contrail getting involved and generally less pollutants in the air to serve as condensation nuclei for cloud formation.

Reminds me fondly of April 2010 during the Icelandic good-luck-writing-it-correctly volcano eruption.

From sitting out in the garden during coffee and lunch breaks during the lock-down, I've developed the slightest of tans over the past few days.

Serious UV for March!

Had that gin-clear sky James (we are not that far from you obviously) but it was so crisp it was hard to pretend it was a luscious spring or summer day. Remember March 2012? Same sort of UV but such a different feel. That said, a bit of browning boasted by the teenage offspring today!

Max UV has dropped a bit today in southern stations, despite continuous sunshine here. Air quality/ humidity?
