Looks like PHE have Dyslexia. The increase in confirmed cases was 1,452, not 1,542. It was 8,077, but is now 9,529.

In mid-Feb, our eldest (16) came down with a fever, dry cough, headache  stinging eyes and total fatigue.

At that time, it wasn't believed CV was in the UK beyond a couple of isolated imported cases. We joked about it being CV but never thought it could be. Wife took her to the doctors who diagnosed a viral infection. We were more worried about her being well enough to go to London than anything if I'm honest. She more or less recovered after 4 days - although still easily tired.

About a week or two later, Mrs S had an intermittent fever and brief cough, along with a headache and fatigue. Our youngest had a bit of a cough but also a snurchy nose. Few days later and I kept burning up for between 10 mins and half an hour'ish at a time over 3 or 4 days and have had a tickly cough on and off since, along with spells of feeling like I'm not on this planet where I feel close to fainting. 

Likelihood is none of us have had it. But, given the proliferation of cases with no or only mild symptoms, and an increasing acceptance amongst experts that it's almost certain to have begun spreading in the UK before the end of Jan, I can't rule it out. 

That's why I really want us to have the antibody test.

I think Mrs S will. She works for the NHS in a hospital, but not frontline; the issue is that her team play a vital role and they are in constant contact with clinical staff. If she tests positive for having had it, I wonder if they'll also test her family?

Anecdotally, some tests are taking 5 days between being taken and the results being received. Also my friend who has had the virus was told that they are only testing people when they have died, or recovered, to find out if they can discharge the patient.

Just called her - it is actually seven wards and the numbers in each vary from 12 to 15.

So the figure is from 84 to 105 or thereabouts.

The discrepancy with PHE is that patients are not included in the published stats until the virus test has come back from the labs, so recent admissions are not included yet.

Are you sure that was the virus, Saint ?  - I felt like that when I accidentally ate  3 slices of  my sisters "chocolate" brownies - buggered my night out  completely - I couldn't drive - I could barely walk

Yes Martin would like test mine had what I’d call mild fever for quite a while had a little trouble getting warm in bed so put double on I don’t like cold shivers so do the wrong thing I like to sweat it out I can deal with being hot but not cold then had dry cough which one night gave me that painful sore chest with nothing coming up which I was not expected I remember saying partner in morning I don’t want much of that which I didn’t then felt fatigue for a while so hoping I’ve had it hopefully, having said that I’ve had much worse flu over the years ones that I could not get out of bed.

I too had all the symptoms of cv including breathing difficulties back in January and was  rough for about 5 days and then swiftly recovered spoke to my gp afterwards who didn`t rule out I could have had pneumonia.Cv wasn`t even mentioned. Iam convinced cv has been here doing the rounds since the beginning of the year if not earlier. Like someone posted earlier it seems if you can shake it off within a week you`ll be ok but after that things get serious. I too would love to have the antibody test for peace of mind and to be sure.

I suspect the model will start to go wrong now. Remember the three day periodicity though. Tommorow will see relatively small gains again but it will be up big time on Friday.

Mine started on 19 December. Permanent unproductive cough and felt hot and cold. Didn’t take temp as hubby couldn’t find thermometer 🤷‍♀️  This went on for a couple of days, and began to feel better, though still coughing. Called into bar and had a drink on Christmas Eve. Woke up about 3 am feeling so bad. Couldn’t stop coughing, and so this went on for about 3 days. Only time in 61 years that I have missed Christmas. Ate a handful of cashew nuts. Being diabetic, my blood sugars were all over the place. Felt slightly better on NYE, and the gradual progression to a very productive cough.  Symptoms finally disappeared by the end of January. Probably too early for this to have been Covid, but it was very nasty all the same.

in Norfolk? You must be joking! They are JUST being rolled out here. I had a countour Next One meter before I moved here. Can’t even get the strips on prescription. Buy them off eBay as I wasn’t prepared to go back to a basic meter. Now have a plan tho. My hospital annual review cancelled last week, obviously.  Luckily I am using this meter and it generates an email report to the DN with all my readings on, with any noticeable trends.  She was impressed, and I said perhaps now is the time to push for these strips on prescription. She is writing to whoever is in charge of these things! 

 Sorry mods for going OT, Would push for sensors, app is also very good runs on I phone 7 and above put phone screen up to arm and it reads it automatically like magic says things like targets and stores over a number of weeks etc,only thing to watch with those is the 5 minute approx delay behind a normal machine but the sensor advantage is the rate of increase or decrease it is expecting and informs you  critical for unwell diabetics which has never been wrong so have time to put things right had those for nearly 2 years in Essex.

Yes that's the one. Rife around December time. Very dry cough which only became slightly more productive right at the very end.

Felt like back and chest were being constrained (that funny tickle in your back) yet nothing being brought up. Eyes streaming with constant coughing and also 'gagging' due to cough severity. I would describe the feeling as close to choking. I went through a whole pack of covonia cough sweets whilst trying to inhale the menthol vapour, in about half an hour. Just wanted some relief.

Whatever it was, as you say, it was nasty.

At a time of crisis there should be a presumption that ministers will communicate clearly and honestly, not obfuscate.

I think the reality is significantly different to what you describe but tonight she didn’t need to make much of an effort because the minister was truly woeful.

we don’t know when they started, but by and large I think they’ve reacted well even if they have got plenty wrong in the process. I repeat, most other countries are in the same boat chasing the same stuff.

But I also contend the WHO knew what was required well before the end of February.
