We had  a brief, but fierce, graupel shower pass through here about 40mins back, left a thin coating on the kitchen window sill. Shows promise I guess.

Well I'm surprised this morning, everything is covered in a good 3 inches of snow, two inches more than I expected, It's not snowing now but no thawing either so happy for once. There are showers following behind the main band but they look as though they are dying out before they come too far inland so might not see much more

Dawn breakss at the wolf centre, 300 feet up in the hills to the SW of Reading...

I went to bed last night disappointed as what I assumed to be the main event brought me a mix of sleet, graupel and snow and left me with just a layer of slush. I thought that that was it in terms of snow. So I was pleased to wake up to a light covering this morning. It's snowing lightly at the moment and the radar suggests that there's more to come. That's twice this week that I have seen snow without expecting it. Makes a change!

We now have a covering of snow on a layer of frozen slush. I don't think that I'll be going anywhere in the car today!

25 minutes later at the wolf centre - a lovely wintry scene. One that'll be duplicated far and wide, I suspect (although I'm not expecting such here!)

(It looks better when clicked. No sign of old Torak, either, I suspect he's in his nice snug kennel!)

Just started snowing heavily in Woodcote, South Oxfordshire. Settling on all surfaces. Hoping our elevation and a ‘favourable pivot’ will give us a good covering today 🙂

Snow has just started in Yateley. Falling on surfaces still white with frost. Light at the moment but sky looks fairly full of it.

A memorable breakfast with my young boys, watching huge fluffy flakes build up the cover in the garden. Almost over now, per radar and my own eyes, but definitely enough for an (imminent) sledge. At times, it was some of the heaviest snow I've ever seen.

Good job the roads were dry with frost , the band of snow looks very narrow

Now the heavy sleet/ wet snow as well as freezing rain has left us there is a sheet of ice and actually the temperature has fallen back to 0.5c from a high of 1.6c early hours after a low of -2.1c last night. The little slush on cars has now frozen to ice.

Some of the hills were interesting drive, but sensibly we have winter tyres on one car so could drive up hills on the snow covered roads no problem.  Actually they are better than summer tyres in the wet below +10c so well worth the investment

Flakes are quite fine here but loads of them. Hard to see down to the end of the street.

Sounds like you did well to the North and East of here. 2cm in North Bristol which I’m happy with.

Looking at the radar we were right under one of the heaviest bits. Almost at the back edge already though, that’s only about half an hour? It needs to start pivoting if the forecast of more prolonged snow is to come off.

Settled readily on all surfaces but only 1-2cm so far.
