Update today (Fri 12th) at 1030.

https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/nature_and_travel/2021/11/12/earthquakes_south_of_hekla_volcano/

Article says eruption not expected because the quake was generated by lateral slip i.e. not movement of magma

An interesting volcano near Sicily that hasn't erupted for many years.

The last eruption on Vulcano was more than 130 years ago and lasted from 2 August 1888 to 22 March 1890.

Last month, referring to “increased degassing, temperatures and seismicity” on the island, Marco Pistolesi, a volcanology professor at the University of Pisa, said, “for those who know the island, this has never been observed before”.

Our daughter and husband's proposed holiday on La Palma in 2nd week of December has now been cancelled by TUI , so TUI is expecting the eruption to continue. They're allowing a later free re-book to another Canary Island of choice.

The La Palma eruption is still going strong with a new vent, and lava flows, opening up yesterday. The current view is impressive: https://youtu.be/ndy422chyW8

Apparently there has been another increase in the number of earthquakes.

Yes, that vent is certainly causing problems I think. Remarkably (based on previous events) the eruption doesn’t show any really signs of stopping in the immediate future.

This is an impressive video of the new lava flow:

There is an ongoing glacial flood at Grimsvötn in Iceland currently and the glacier above the volcano has subsided by over 38m in the last week or two. Whether this is a precursor to an eruption remains to be seen, but it is a possibility.

A big eruption of Semeru in the last few hours on the eastern side of Java. Reports of the ash cloud hitting between 40,000 and 50,000 feet.
