Level of groundwater (m above sea level); 44.0, 46.3, 54.3, 58.4, 59.8, 61.0, 64.5. { 20.1m rise in a week) EDIT now 66.6 midday Sat

The most critical figure is a water table at 75m, i.e. surface level  at Chilgrove, when water just comes out of the ground everywhere, roads through the Downs are deep in water; and villages, if not actually cut off, quite often only have one road for access. There should be no difficulty in reaching this level in 7-10days' time given the forecast, despite a brief dry spell early next week.

Water table still rising despite a couple of dry days - level now 70.3m asl. Should ease off just below flood level this week, but rain forecast for next week should push it over. At West Dean yesterday it wasn't just oozing out of the ground but coming out in places as small (few cm) fountains, which I've not seen before.

I notice that the whole of the Dorset Downs is already subject to Flood Alert due to groundwater with an area near Dorchester under a Flood Warning ("Ensure that pumps are operational and airbrick covers and flood boards are in place." https://www.floodalerts.com/

Just shy of 22mm here in the west of Ireland. (For the month) Way below normal despite the prolonged run of lower than average pressure. Yet, despite the small amounts of rain, everything is constantly dripping wet. Exceptionally poor drying conditions, even for the time of year.

Although probably 90%+ of PWS's are +/-10% inaccurate imho, including my own, we have made it to a new annual record here since 2011, 875.6mm so far.
