Another 11 mm fell overnight since that thundery spell, was mostly just dynamic showery stuff but puts it at 23 mm in 24 hours up to now (11 am).

Up to 56mm after yesterdays rain. Got caught in a particularly heavy burst around 10pm last night. 

Nothing major here the last couple of days, 6mm or so.

57.2mm for the month so above average and the annual at 803.8mm is already above the average (750mm) and a second year in a row above 1000mm is a distinct possibility.

On course for yet another ridiculously wet month and ridiculously wet October.

Up to 68mm after a horrific  33mm fell across Wednesday and Thursday. It's just relentless and the complete antithesis of normal with coastal locations subjected to the highest rainfall totals whereas further inland the traditionally wettest places escape with little by comparison.

Nigg  which used to be the driest local site picked up  an incredulous 49.6mm. Also right on the coast Balmedie had 43.6mm.

Further inland Westhill, which used to be wetter had only 26.6mm. My station is roughly equidistant between the two.

Looking at where you would expect the wettest part of the region to be, Glenmuick had 15.4mm and Inverey (Braemar) only 8.4mm.

This is not a one-off. It's happening repeatedly. Now 16 consecutive Octobers with 50mm+ when during the 20th Century roughly 1 in 4 would record less than this.

Looking highly unlikely to get a month with under 40mm this year for what would be the first time since 1977. November and December slightly more likely to record it than October but still improbable. I've recorded three Novembers with less than 40mm since 2005 (2011, 2012 and 2020) and three Decembers (2006, 2014 and 2016). In addition 2007 and 2011 recorded exactly 40mm which would still be drier than any month this year.

13mm on Saturday and another 4.5mm Sunday brings the October total here to 87mm.   Looking like another very wet month for us, and remarkably this is the 6th consecutive wet or very wet October here.   The Octobers from 2019 to 2023 have an average rainfall of 107mm here, nearly double the long term average!

30.2mm fell here between 9pm last night and 3am this morning. Consistent moderate rain rather than anything too heavy. But the amazing part of this is that these sort of totals for this time period were forecast by the ECMWF as early as this time last week.
