We have been very lucky here I think in terms of sunshine this month, even though today has been cloudier. 

The dry and milder conditions are certainly welcome (but naturally I won’t complain if and when the snow arrives…at some point!)

I got a bit excited yesterday evening when my anemometer started moving a little for the first time in days.  It’s still attempting to move this morning but doesn’t have the energy to keep going.  No, I’m not complaining about this current spell of weather.  It isn’t causing damage like the floods we had last year, or the winds that felled trees and roofs.  I’m careful what I wish for.

8 days into November and I don't think I've seen the Sun once yet. This really is the worst time of year for high pressure.

With our eldest at Uni and youngest now almost 17 and with a full social life, flexibility in terms of us all having a day out in the Lakes has gone. We've had this Sunday inked in for a couple of weeks. I know that weather in autumn is unpredictable but for all the dry weather that's been around - and will be again from Monday onwards - it's a bummer that the first real rain in the Lakes within a 2/3 week window will be on the day we're up there.

Still, it'll fit with the darkness of my mood this week 😪

Yet another absolutely horrific month of unadulterated 21st Century weather hell. Once again a complete lack of variety and changeability.
Five completely sunless days already meaning that this year’s total has set a new record of 62 with 53 days of potential garbage still to go. Can see it reaching 75 or even 80 no bother at this rate.

Yesterday was as grim as it gets.  Gloomy, murky, damp, drizzly, unusable, unhealthy and depressing beyond words with an utterly foul double digit min of 10.8C followed by disgusting day temperatures that were even lower, before rising after dark. 
Today more of the same crud with non-existent diurnal ranges and feeling downright cold and nasty with the lack of sun and wind out of the vile SE quadrant.

Meanwhile it reaches 18C on the Moray Firth. Would have had that here in the past as well because mild weather always came on a SW flow not this excrement. Little wonder we haven't set any max temperature records since 2012. A truly dire time to be alive for anyone with an interest in meteorology.

Almost every single night has been disgustingly mild apart from one which dropped to a near average 3.7C. Nothing close to the long overdue first frost and hasn't been one since 4th March which is the longest frost-free period I have ever witnessed by a country mile. However, unbelievably, 1959 appears to have recorded no air frost at Craibstone between 16th February and 11th November, inclusive, meaning another three weeks of this crud would need to be endured before that record is beaten.

Truly awful autumn.  1974 on steroids. Cold grot that switched to mild grot as soon as it would be cold enough for a frost. Also the trees were almost completely bare by the start of November which is the earliest I can ever remember, resulting in an extension to the utterly grim and depressing dead season.

Down here, after 8 days, we are currently on 0% average sunshine and 0% average rainfall.    And its not even been warm.  

Oh to live where you do!    You lucky, lucky LUCKY person!  😃

Another absolutely disgusting day. 

Vile grey skies

Vile diurnal range of 2.3C so far
Vile soaking drizzle.

What a sick joke this so-called 'dry' spell is. It's nothing of the sort. Bar Wednesday it's been damp, dreary, gloomy, murky and drizzly all week with humidity scarcely dropping below 90%. A soggy, unpleasant mess. 

A 970mb westerly would give drier conditions than this filth. Even on Wednesday when it was sunny the lowest humidity was 83%.

Note also that the past couple of days were glorious inland at Ballater but because it's now the weekend the insufferable gloom has now spread further inland cutting off the only escape route. 

A change from this can't come soon enough.

Managed to miss the real rain in the Lakes yesterday; just a little bit of very fine mizzle for the first half hour or so. Very low cloud base, barely any wind and not properly light.

Was a wonderfully atmospheric afternoon of walking mainly through woodland.

Mostly sunny today and allowed me to see how warm the November sun can warm up the conservatory, it went up to 23.8c from 6.1C this morning so there a little strength to keep them going up above 20C,

Supposed to be getting colder so how the hell have I just recorded the second mildest minimim of the week? It's a sick joke. The coldest minima this month have all occurred with the mildest maxima. Not that there has been anything remotely cold. Absoluitely shocking as the longest frost-free period in most people's lifetime continues unabated.

It's beyond ridiculous. Another backward season of 21st Century nothingness. Coldest temp in the first half of October was 0.6C, coldest in the second half was a dreadful 2.7C and November has been even worse with a low of 3.2C - the same as September. Complete and utter crap.

Pretty much the same temperatures for the past eight weeks when there should have been a 6C drop over that time. An excruciatingly awful era in which seasonality, variety and unpredictability are all at an all time low.

Just been out for a walk in the sunshine and despite the temperatures being around 10°C lower than yesterday it actually feels pleasant in the sunshine and light winds. I suspect a few days in the coming week will feel a bit colder!
