11.2C. Got back last night just before midnight with frost and the remnants of snow on the roads and ground.
Some light rain overnight with fresh to strong SW winds. Quite a contrast this morning.

A dramatic rise in temperature from -3 C to +1.5 C in a few hours and we now have moderate wet snow on a freshening easterly. Just starting to form a slushy film.

Heavy rain all night and continuing this morning with strong winds. It felt almost tropical this morning when I went outside with a temperature of 12.5 currently. Over an inch of rain already.

Here in NW Edinburgh, it's raining and the wind has picked up courtesy of Storm Bert which is now making its presence felt.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was -2.5°C with an official air frost at all three of my local stations but the temperature here in Edinburgh has now risen to around +2°C.

Winter is Over!!😡

The rain has turned to sleet and wet snow here which is making everything a little bit slushy and slippery although none of that is actually lying here.

Similar yuck here.
Temp has risen to 10.6c, amazing to think it was sub zero and blizzard conditions this morning.
Still full snow cover on the lawns , pavements are a mess. Rapid thaw now obviously.

Here in Edinburgh, there is still some snow around but a lot of that has now turned to slush and although it's not actually raining just now, the official rainfall totals are still building up by an average of around 1 mm every hour due to snow melt.

I would have expected the wind to have picked up by now and before that initial rain turned to snow this morning, it had looked as though that was happening but that's not how it has turned out so far and there's still very little in the way of wind here as I write.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is still only around 2°C as I write but regardless of the official maximum temperature as given by the 18z or even the 21z raw SYNOP data and with milder weather on the way, I don't believe that either of those two figures will confirm today's actual maximum temperature as that probably won't occur until the temperature goes up at some point in time during the overnight period.

Was just going to comment on that John
Storm Bert has brought only snow here, no wind or heavy rain. Infact it's been calm across southern Scotland
It's still only 1.5 C here though with a steady thaw. The side roads and pavements are terrible
1 C in southern Scotland, 16 C in the south-west. Quite a contrast

That would no doubt have had a massive impact on anyone trying to get to any sporting event and so, I'm just astonished that all of today's top flight football matches in Scotland were still able to go ahead (albeit with a few of them being delayed) in spite of all of that.
