Christopher J. Foy (born 20 November 1962[1] in St. Helens, Lancashire[2]) is an English professional football referee who officiates in the Premier League.

Since his first appointment as an official in the Football League in 1994, Foy has refereed a number of notable matches, including the FA Community Shield and the finals of the FA Trophy, Football League Cup and FA Cup. He is a well known Stoke City fan and was influential in their 2 - 1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on 11/12/11 earning him the Man of the Match award.

My blood is boiling and so I just have to let it out, but it looks like I've been beaten to it!  Well played Stoke, stick to what you're good at but its a shame Chris Foy doesn't take a leaf out of their book and go join the Circus.  What a Clown, simply the worst refereeing performance I've seen in years.   Ady was yards onside for the equaliser and the handballs and foul on Kaboul were stone wallers!!  

Anyhow, great run Spurs, superbly entertaining football and here's to another 11 match unbeaten run.

So Tottenham's run of playing above themselves comes to an end. Must have been unnerved by such a lofy and unfamiliar league placing, nosebleeds and all. All's not lost, though. Liverpool are pants so you've got a real chance of a Europa League place again

St Helens is in Merseyside, not Lancashire.

Tottenham paid the price for not turning up in the first half, finding themselves 2 down, then coming out in the 2nd half and playing against 13 men.

Well that's true. I'm assuming your lot will be spending big in January, given the fact that with your current squad you probably won't get into the Europa League for another five years. How many more good, but essentially limited, UK players can you hoover up, given the best ones aren't readily available to you?

The penalty given was soft. I'm more concerned about the two that weren't given and the goal that was ruled offside when it clearly wasn't. The actual score should have been 4-2 to Spurs.

We won't spend big, simple as.

I still think emotion and sentimentality got Dalglish the job, cos he's nowhere near good enough an all-round manager to take us back to the top. Whilst our squad aint the best in the league, we're still underperforming, points-wise (given we've gone toe-to-toe and come out on top (even if not got the result) against both the Manchesters, Chelsea and Arsenal this season)

just a little setback in what will turn out to be a cracking season prem wise for the Spurs...as for the ref today shite no other word for him.

Cracking season finishing 5th ot 6th??????? hmmmmmm   not saying they will but Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool are all in the mix for 2 places and don't be fooled it is that tight any two of the four could finish 5th and 6th.

It was soft but as far as what should have been it happens to most clubs, look at the Bolton sending off at Spurs last week, horrendous decision. It is swings and roundabouts and all clubs suffer and benefit from poor decisions i'm afraid.

Chelsea should have also been a man down in 15 minutes at Newcastle last week, that would have changed the game especially at 0-0 , it happens every week up and down the country .......sadly

Its true though Karl, I would be gutted if that had happened to Arsenal today, livid infact, Officials have to be accountable.

I cringe evrytime RVP falls over , AW has to buy or get a forward on loan in January, maybe Defoe might pop down to us for a game or two

Cracking game yesterday, we bossed the game and yet again failed to take our numerous chances, so in the end we had to rely on two stunning strikes. You have to say that the feel of the place was amazing and Martin O'Neil certainly has a way of putting a smile on faces, but without 2 new strikers in Jan we can only expect to avoid relegation and no more.

That's extremely harsh.

I do a lot of cricket umpiring and one of my responses to a player who says I made a mistake is to point out gently and politely that I make far fewer than the players....

The referee is only human, as are the two assistants.  They will never see everything and they will never see everything absolutely correctly.  You have to accept that as a fact. If you want the match officiated like American Football with half a dozen referees on the pitch to watch eveything that happens, with on-field discussions every time there is an incident then you'll have a very well officiated match taking about four hours and boring the pants off everyone watching....
