As for the penalty decision at Sunderland, surely that is why the 4th official needs to be consulted, Le Tiss within seconds said the Everton player had an 'air shot' and fell over his own feet. Hyperthetical yes but what happens if that is the last game of the season and Sunderland needed 3 pts to be sure of the title, highly unlikely but you know what I'm getting at

It would certainly be a very brave person that would bet against Man Utd winning the league again. They have been over the course so many times before that they know inside out what is required between Xmas & New Year and the end of the season in May. For Man City, this is new territory, and for me the jury is still out on whether they'll be able to last the pace when it comes to what SAF described a few years ago as "squeaky bum time".

The two Toures going to the African Nations Cup will hurt Shiteh, that's for sure. But I still think they'll win the EPL - they have greater depth. And in pure goalscoring terms United have no-one to compete with Aguero.

No I don't think Man Utd will retain the title. City just look too strong and will win more of the key top-of-the-table clashes overall.

Very true.

I didn't fancy the game yesterday with Valencia and Carrick in defence! We ended up with a back 4 of Valencia, Carrick, Evra and Fryers.

I thought Baconface was Harry Redknapp. It's getting harder to keep track of nicknames for managers. I guess we have 'Arry and Twitchy for him.

Not strictly Premier League related as it dates back to before the EPL was created, but since this invloves a current PL club I though I'd share this anyway. Below is a clip from December 1989 of then Man City chairman, the late Peter Swales, appearing on "Saint and Greavsie" (remember them?) to explain why he'd sacked manager Mel Machin (City were bottom of the league at the time) a few days earlier. I think it was only a couple of months or so earlier that City had hammered Man United 5-1 at Maine Road, during the time that SAF was in real danger of losing his job. Seems as though some chairmen even back then were still inclined to press the panic button and sack their manager if their club fell to the bottom of the league! Some things never change.

Just about half-way through the Premiership season now and impetus at this time of year is important, but then so too is confidence.........I have a feeling, notwithstanding the credentials of some of the chasing teams, that the FA Cup fixture between Man C v Man U could well be the determining factor as to where the Premiership title goes this season.

Spurs in the groove in the second half, a breath taking goal from Bale gives them a 2 nil lead. Will they continue like this for the rest of the season and put themselves in contention, or will the wheels come off as they have a habit of doing?

Quality performance from Tottenham this evening and a superb attacking feast for the neutral too!   Gareth Bale pick of the bunch but excellent performances from the likes of Modric, Adebayor and Parker to mention but three more. COYS!!

Spurs will probably finnish third...dont see them realistically challenging the Manchester clubs. Bale still over hyped a very good player but still lacks consistency. Suprised City dropped points at West Brom and Man U on a run of easier ties have managed to close the gap down to goal difference. IMO the prem could go either way.....but the prem title will stay in Manchester.
