Since we last won the league all those years ago, our story has been one of rubbish signing after rubbish signing (starting with Dalglish's efforts to rebuild the team he was handed on a plate, who were so good, experienced and comfortable playing with each other, that they didn't need a manager).

The issue as to whether he was using the term in a racist way is one issue, but it's now reached the stage where the problem is ignorance on the part of the media:

How to completely mispresent an issue on 5live: persist in pronouncing the Spanish word "negro" as nee-gro, thus turning a non-inherently racist word in Spanish into an inherently racist English word. Ignoring the fact it's a LANGUAGE issue, then add "that's OK in their culture, but not ours", and you've just denigrated and tarred as racist an entire continent, based on sheer ignorance. Remind me where the racism lies here?
