A liverpool-fan colleague just told that's the first time that Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll have started a game together this season.

By all accounts, a very good performance by Liverpool against an Everton side who actually played well. A frenetic, committed, old-fashioned derby game with a great atmosphere.

I must say, I even detected an atmosphere at The Bridge last night, despite the plastic flags.

As for Liverpool Tuesday night, an absorbing game made easier for us by Moyes' clear indication in team selcetion that Saturday was more important. Still after the debacle against Sunderland it was a definite positive.

I wonder if Pepe Reina will fancy away at Sunderland next season?! How many bizarre goals can you concede...?

Three CL wins by English clubs in the last 13 years doesn't equate to dominance in my mind, even if there has been an English team in the final in most years. Real dominance by English teams was back in the late 70's and early 80's when Liverpool, Nott'm Forest and Aston Villa brought the old European Cup back to England 6 years on the trot. In my opinion, dominance should be measured in terms of the number of competitions won by English teams over a given period.

This guy is scum. How much longer does this have to go on? The answer is until the FA drag arseholes like Drogba in front of them, ban them for half a season and hit them with a fine that really hurts. A probation period of a season would be a good idea as well - get caught doing it again and you're banned for a season. Do it again after that and you're banned from the game

Would it be too much to ask for players who dive to be retrospectively banned based on video evidence? Surely it shouldn't be that difficult. That would quickly cut down on diving.

I would also like to see the players that handball the ball on the goal line (or thereabouts) dealt with better. The situation atm is to send them off and award the penalty even if there is no doubt that the ball was going in (giving the goalkeeper the chance to save it). As far as I'm concerned, the goal should be awarded without the need for a pen as well as the player being dismissed for cheating.

One problem with doing it just retrospectively is that someone could dive to earn the penalty to win the world cup and all they get is an extra long holiday afterwards and make the game look stupid for having the biggest prize (arguably) decided by something that everyone could see was cheating at the time but the authorities didnt act until afterwards. For this reason i would like to see it part of video evidence, if that ever comes in, even if just for 'successful' dives that earn a penalty or free kick in a threatening area or have a player sent off. There would be a break in play but there would be anyway in these situations where the players normally spend ages arguing anyway. Besides, hopefully if the players know it wont work and they'll get banned then they wont do it.

Worrying for Man United, they are being completely destroyed by Bilbao again tonight, 2-0 and 5-2 on aggregate. Bilbao are a great side to watch and could easily be 4 or 5 up tonight. I wonder how Citeh will get on later?

And Bielsa weaves his magic again. He really is a phenomenal manager. The guy throws conventional tactics out of the window.

4-4-2 takes yet another hit.

You need the right players for the system in Bielsa's case. I'm willing to bet the Bilbao players are fitter than any EPL team for the simple fact they have to be because of the pressing game Bielsa employs.

One thing is for sure, if Bielsa came to the EPL and put together a team of 'Bielsa type' players i.e. those willing and able to play his high tempo system - he would leave the rest of the league in his wake.

I find Bielsa type teams far more entertaining to watch than the tippy tappy shite Barca regualarly serves up.

Romfordman

That Swansea City are doing well, if they win this game and they are 2-0 presently against Fulham

That will put them in 8th with 39 points, not at all bad for an unfancied side, who a lot of people I know picked to be relegated at season end.
