Whew... busy day today, only managed to sneak a peak at the GFS 00z this morning, noting the continued trend towards a later breakdown.
Catching up now and the ECM 00z is a sight to behold, all thanks to energy SW of Greenland going SE from day 4 to day 5 rather than NE - the kind of late adjustment that we've often seen with sliding lows in winter, except that it's occuring way out to our west and the effects for the UK are to boost our high pressure by supporting it from beneath rather than applying pressure on it from above. The result is proper high pressure dominance right out to day 10 combined with the trough near the Azores threatening to pump up some even hotter air to the UK .
Then the 06z GFS op run came into agreement regarding that energy SW of Greenland . What a morning it must have been to watch unfold, shame to have missed it
