The Icelandic met office have some good up to date hourly information on seismicity at the top of their homepage.

Tried to link to no avail.

Well worth a google though.

A live webcam for Hekla (just in case?. ) and other sites in that beautiful country can be found on the link below.

I'm not sure there is any credibility in claims of an imminent eruption at Hekla, although I guess the story would sell newspapers.

A more realistic assessment can be found on Jon Friman's Iceland volcanology blog

If it does go, I just hope we don't get a northerly to knacker up our flightpaths. Especially round the mid-late May period when I'm taking a much deserved holiday

You should be ok Saint.
The Mail does a great job to sell itself.

Mind you?

Wouldn't it be grand if it kicked off whilst on holiday.
A nice extention and a great excuse,

Bring the credit card, just in case.

It seems like quite an impressive eruption (and the BBC are now reporting it due to the impact of the ash cloud on some Aussie flights). The plume and sulphur dioxide emissions seem quite high currently.

As discussed in the earthquake thread it might be worth keeping an on events in Iceland on coming days. Increasing seismic activity suggests an eruption of sorts may be imminent.
