A neighbour's wall blew down - not significant in the great scheme of things, but interesting that it blew down in the opposite direction to that of the wind. Obviously a bit of extra power added by a small vortex forming - there are tall buildings nearby.

No buttressing, no support and, as the wall disintegrated into its component bricks, I suspect very little cement in the mortar. It's a miracle it's stayed there that long (built at the same time as the rest of the estate in the late 1980s).

Quite pleased with my workmanship on the fence, it's survived yet another storm unscathed :)

Quite a few trees down in the local area, the road around the corner is half blocked by a big tree but passable in one lane. And a proper torrent pouring down the Minley Road into Fleet. I'm not sure if it's a drain overflowing, a ditch pouring off the field or a spring appeared, but it's really bubbling out of the ground and flooding most of the road.

However we have had plenty of sunshine today with several heavy showers. Managed to do some work in the garden but it is wetter underfoot than I can recall in the 35+ years I have lived here.

Despite the raging winds, there was little damage to be seen around the Egham area. Same for Hampton Hill

I daresay the 'exceptionally disturbed' period is coming to an end, although it may not be the last that we see this month from the looks of things.

I'm thinking of stowing this thread away tomorrow, in the classics forum where it truly belongs - thank you everyone for your excellent input over the past 11 days
