Friday morning between 00-03z is currently being progged 'up there' with the worst of last winters storm systems. One to watch.

Indeed, certainly an interesting time ahead weather watching, but I guess for some it won't float their boat unless 2ft of snow falls with it....otherwise it will be classed as a boring non event and nothing more than an average winter storm 

Given the wind direction I wonder if gas pollution from the fissure eruption in Iceland will affect northern Scotland

Well it should cancel out the local fumes from the Mars bars fry-ups.

The met office has a warning of now to low levels for a large part of Scotland on Friday.

Snow risk has reduced to 50% for here tomorrow night, but gone up to 70% early Friday. Wouldn't be surprised to see this downgrade again and like yesterday snow cover restricted to ground 300m plus where most people don't live. 

The Shipping Forecasts are quite impressive, certainly wouldn't want to be out in a Violent Storm Force 11 !!

Sam you were bang on the money time wise! It was quite impressive as it passed through, temp dropped from 9.5c to 6.5c during it as well.
