What the hell? It is already sleeting in London. I swear I am not making this up. Admittedly I am nine floors up above street level but even so...

I'm getting a streamer vibe - will be interesting to see how the next few showers coming into Liverpool Bay and the Ribble behave.

Some very brief hail and at best slightly sleety showers since the front went through earlier. The wind is very strong which has dried everything out, but as usual the problem for Wirral in this setup will be catching the PPN above anything else!

I've just seen Tomasz on the 1pm news.  Very little precipitation (roughly) Midlands south with the same emphasis on hit-and-miss showers giving some varying accumulations further north the this afternoon/evening/overnight.  Tomorrow morning more showers make it in to the southern half of the country, and look reasonably 'organised' for a few hours, before fading away later.

Just got caught in a sleety haily mess on the way back from the shops as the cold front went through.
I feel great! so maybe I might just

Sleety/ice rain, more so than hail, with accompanying strong gusts just passed through Dartford, very chilly feeling now too.

You can choose the parameter at the right. Updates by about 25 minutes after the time in question usually.

Windy, cold, blue sky here. Showers not making it over to us (yet?). The Durham Dales look good for some sledging this weekend, though!

Just had the first moderate snow shower. It lasted about ten minutes but was just lots of blowing around and no deposits.

Sleet /rain showers all day in central Edinburgh. Just had a heavy snow shower with huge flakes and very dark skies for 10/15 mins but unfortunately no settling. Just melts as soon as it hits the ground. Bah!

A quick point about my snow risk map, it doesn't just take into account rain/snow threshold, but also precipitation requirements. With the exception of the south west the limitation will be precipitation not temperature, as the cold air dries out moving over the land. There will be shower bands over the midlands but isolated compared to what is going on further north, wales has a greater chance of seeing snow, however there is still an analogous issue, the air-stream is becoming too dry further south to support the kind of shower activity of the north. That said 60% is greater than a 1/2 chance of seeing snow!

For those that are in the black area of my snow risk map, do not worry, there is plenty of opportunity this cold spell for snow, I think the vast majority of the UK will see snow.

2023/2024 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):
29/11 (-6), 30/11 (-6), 02/12 (-5), 03/12 (-5), 04/12 (-3), 16/01 (-3), 18/01 (-8), 08/02 (-5)

Total: 8 days with snow/sleet falling.

2022/2023 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

18/12 (-1), 06/03 (-6), 08/03 (-8), 09/03 (-6), 10/03 (-8), 11/03 (-5), 14/03 (-6)

Total: 7 days with snow/sleet falling.

2021/2022 Snow days (approx 850hpa temp):

26/11 (-5), 27/11 (-7), 28/11 (-6), 02/12 (-6), 06/01 (-5), 07/01 (-6), 06/02 (-5), 19/02 (-5), 24/02 (-7), 30/03 (-7), 31/03 (-8), 01/04 (-8)
Total: 12 days with snow/sleet falling.
