Not looking good IMBY, temps refuse to drop below 3.2c and since the last shower of wet snow there's been nothing, it really seems like a case of déjà vu. Maybe next weeks alleged event will bring something more substantial, failing that Spring is around the corner.😜

Lighter snow now, but that was quite an impressive snowstorm just recently with several flashes of lightning. Thin covering on all surfaces, close to 1cm in spots.

Some good intense showers tonight in both Stoke and whilst driving on the M5 to work. Given a dusting on the grass, but too warm to settle. Looked good blowing in the wind.

Just had a sleety rain shower - temps rose to 4.5c.

This was the BBC SW spotlight weather outlook: - The potential for snow on Sunday:

Will be interesting to see how this turns out!

Had a few sleety showers that turned to light snow around 22:00, didn't last more than a couple of minutes. A car passed me on the way home from work tonight and it had snow on the roof and boot so somewhere around here has had a dusting.

Bbc news live in Scotland and also Kendal, cumbria to report on 'uk snow'. The guy in Kendal did look chilly (!) but again, the reporting winds me up something chronic. He told the viewers that the snow hadn't made much progress into Cumbria from over the Pennines......wait...so, the snow is coming from which direction sorry?
He did admit that it was falling steadily now tho. Thank god the Pennines didn't get in the way for too long then.

Turning into the best night here since December 2010 with heavy and prolonged snow showers being blown along by a gale force wind, 5cms lying now and everything is plastered with snow.

Met office spot on with Amber warning.

It's not often I would use the term blizzard but that is a true description of the current weather, heavy drifting snow and near gale force wind, difficult to judge depth but just knocked 6cms off my greenhouse.

amazing night.

A total of three showers here this evening, in order: one just about snow, sleety at times; one sliding between rain and snow all the time; one (the most recent) simply sleety rain. In other words, it's got less interesting as night has fallen and the temperature has dropped! 😛
