Snowing heavily still. Well past 6 inches now, absolute whiteout. I've never seen it so thickly plastered on the trees!

Absolutely chucking it down with snow here now, settling on most surfaces.

Sky looks really dark to the west.

A jolly pleasant drive into work this morning!

The only fly in the ointment is sh*t drivers sh*tting themselves and doing 20mph because there's 1cm of slushy snow on the road

Set off in a heavy graupel shower, which had begun to leave a covering, and this soon turned to snow (that hard, ice-crystal type stuff), before becoming proper snow, big flakes and falling heavily. All the way on the M62 was heavy snow, which continued right into Manchester city centre.

It died out as I got to the office, then started moderately-heavy again, but is now fizzling out once more. Raintoday radar suggests there could be a constant stream of PPN through this morning - the question is whether it will remain cold enough, and I'm not sure it will.

Quite a lot of snow here this morning, the camera below is junction 23 of the M60 near to here. But not as bad as what we had in January 2013 or even March 2013. Non the less a decent snow event and we was just enough south to get into the streamer!

Absolutely fantastic. You sound surprisingly pessimistic Saint, this is a really decent event :-)

Really thought we might see some snow as we usually do ok in a NW airflow....but all we get is Rain despite ice being on cars etc.

A very snowy morning, Manchester airport has cancelled flights. Glad I'm not flying out until Sunday.

Seems like the weather some are getting in the North is a bit of an upgrade compared to this mornings forecasts.

The shower band does, however, seem to be gradually sinking southwards

Nothing of note this morning, but about an inch of lying snow... 15 mins away on higher ground it's a different story. I will be heading here as soon as I get the chance!

This streamer is bloody brilliant! After a brief lull its coming down very heavily again. The streamer looks more organised too on the 10am radar. 8 inches lying snow and getting deeper. Hope we can stay in this streamer. Looks that way right now.

Snow has eased now, but that was a pretty impressive fall of heavy snow.  Got about 2 to 3cm of snow lying now on many surfaces, mostly just from 9am to 10am, as there was hardly anything lying at 9am.

On top of the thundersnow event of yesterday evening, a surprisingly good spell so far here!
