Have had about an hour of moderate, occasionally heavy snow in West Northants. 1-2cm on the ground - The first proper covering here since March 2013.

The next tranche of PPN band is hitting the NW now. Just had about 10-15 mins of moderate graupel in Manchester city centre (between sunshine spells).

Looks like the PPN flow is aligned more on a WNW trajectory, so that means it has to pass a little more land before reaching Manchester (or St Helens for that matter) which may help it fall as snow.

The PPN band is, at present, a little more fragmented than the streamer this morning that lasted from approx. 8am to 11am. But then, the PPN may pep up as it moves in off the Irish Sea.

One fly in the ointment further west is that Liverpool Airport is showing 4c air temp & 2c DP. Russ & Patrick on the Wirral both saying they've recently had snow, so that's encouraging (evap cooling hopefully coming into play). Less worry in Manchester at the moment, as the temps are 1c/0c respectively. Worth noting also that there's no sign of air temps inching up from the N/NW.

Look at the recent quickly forming circulation to the North-West of Scotland - polar low perhaps?

Definate rotation. It's something that has been forcast but how far east it gets is another matter. Most likely to track down the west coast of wales but then again who knows...

Sun has come out now after a very snowy morning.  Much slippage off roofs.  You can see the next bank of showers to the north just about to hit us now...

Great video. How did you embed it in the post? I can't get the video embedding to work.

Lovin' those time-lapses Kev! Recent heavy snow shower here, about a 2cm covering on the grass, snow has been heavy enough to settle on all surfaces but in between the showers the temperature lifts to around 1.5C; evaporative cooling in the snow showers has been dropping the temp. to 0.4C
