Got to say, this afternoon's PPN off the Irish Sea has been a major disappointment. It looked like it was shaping up for a repeat of this morning, with lots of PPN in the North Channel/north Irish Sea, but it's fizzled somewhat. Manchester's had sunshine for most of the afternoon

Mostly melted now here in Englefield Green.

The cars and grass, as well as parts of the pavements turned white temporarily. Went from a heavy hail/snow to proper wet snow at the end.

Now snowing lightly.

There's a marked difference in shower activity heading from the North Channel/Irish Sea toward southern NW England compared to this morning.  There is evidence now of a 'streamer' as the showers are aligning NW to SE.  As always it's narrow and there is a 'sweet spot' where one area could see it snow for a couple of hours and 20 miles down the road it stays dry.  It's slightly renewed my interest for the rest of the day.

I need to stop posting quickly at work and take the time to explain myself better!  It was much wider and less typical in its direction west to east.  It's unusual, as far as I can recall, that heavy snow come from that set up.  The subtle shift now means the more usual NW to SE flow and a long narrow band coming down through the channel from further north rather than just off the sea.  Hope that better explains by point?
