Had to nip somewhere after work, so only got in late. Loaded up RainToday to check progress of the Polar Low, and thought 'blimey, it's taking its time'

Then realised that for some reason, RainToday was stopping 19.00

Loaded up Meteoradar and relieved to see it's still on track. Surely it can't go wrong from here

I think the first test is to see how it looks once it has entered the Irish Sea, as that's a bit of a squeeze for it and they're quite temperamental by all accounts!

Its 3*c out there, and it drops to 2*c in the heavier showers weve had this evening.

spiral further west, completely missed Glasgow unlike earlier BBC graphics. Something else brewing in northwest though..

Arrived back from London earlier to find a light dusting of snow on the car which had frozen solid.

Current temperature 0.5C with dew point of -0.7C. A good chance of a bit more snow later in the night I think if the BBC graphics are to believed.

My two kids aged 7 (nearly 😎 and 6 (just) were in a state of euphoria this evening making snowballs out of 1cm of slushy snow cover. I was surprised as they have lived through several snow events in their young lives.

It seems both of them have little recollection now of snow events in years passed; namely 2009-2013

Because of this never in my life have I wanted tonight's potential to come to fruition more..they asked me if we were due some more..my reply was to dream about it tonight and your wishes may just come true.

The moon is shining on the frozen slush now..here's hoping the polar low delivers.

It will make for a magical morning if it does.

NW radar suggest this is on a knife edge - rain and sleet on western side, as expected... but the eastern side looks a bit unconvincing too. Currently looks like a wintry mix (height dependent), with greatest chance of snow on NE flank.

Possibly,  but I'm not viewing the full site either. I'm on an iPad and can see everything on the mobile version.

The SW of the UK sounds like it is in a more stable environment relying on more traditional methods to get the snow to ground level such as negative dewpoints.

Regardless of what it does it is quite a thing of beauty on the radar. Can't say I ever remember having seen one before like that. (RainToday is back online BTW... refresh refresh refresh!)

Well what a night to be on call...Im near a place called Llandinam near Newtown, Sat Nav says I am at 1790ft, I rarely use the term Blizzard but I think what I am viewing would be classed as one. As this is the highest point for miles the wind is howling and the snow intensity is made worse by it been stripped off the fields. Just waiting for back up to arrive...hopefully he gets here soon!
