Looks like it's going to split in two and scrape Wolverhampton to the north and south again.  You couldn't make it up!!

Looks as though the heaviest precipitation is very roughly heading on a track in between Wolverhampton and Worcester and if maintains its course then it'll go somewhere like Stratford/Warwich, Daventry/Banbury, Northampton/Milton Keynes.  The bit to the north of Wolverhampton looks like it'll go something along the lines of  Lichfield, Nuneaton, and perhaps Rugby, Northampton, Bedford.  The next frame should tell us if that's about right or I've gone a little too far north with those areas.

edit Tad further south than I suggested.  Puts Worcester and Oxford in the firing line, which will be music to the ears for a few.

Oh, and I knew all my moaning would pay off eventually.  It's just about held it's sh1t together so we're seeing falling snow settle on all surfaces.  I doubt the precip will have around long enough for measurable depth but everything is getting that nice sprinkled icing sugar look.

Snow here in Bewdley for the last half-hour or so. Very wet in the lighter bits and I'm not convinced how long it'll stick around, but there *is* a thin, lumpy covering on all surfaces, which is the first time I've been able to say that this week!

Sank south a bit more than I thought it was going to which has brought what I expected to pass to my north in to just the right position.  If it continues a little longer there shouldn't be any green of the grass showing - the true measure of the phrase 'covering of snow'.

If it holds together it's got Oxford, Reading, and towards Surrey it's sights (centre line).

Note some elements are turning to sleet on radar type so don't pin your mortgage on it yet!

Also see an area moving South through far N England now that looks half decent.

I was just going to mention that too.  The area of precip that moved in to England just south of Edinburgh has become more widespread in the last couple of hours, though the intensity is less concentrated.  I won't be staying up long enough (but I'll play the animation in the morning) but it'll be interesting to see what path it takes on its journey south.  It'll probably speed through to Sheffield then stall and fizzle in situ over about a 12 hour period.

Just woken up by the sound of dripping water to see everything covered in a thin slushly layer of rapidly melting snow ....  currently light sleety rain but looking at radar heavy snow shower passed over around 1.30am.

Looks like the next band could arrive for the North Midlands in the next couple of hours. Sheffield looks in the firing line again for heavy stuff.

Looks like it's snowing at the wolf centre (a few miles SW of Reading):

(And note that the wolves do have kennels they can use, but they like to be outside rather than under a roof!)

Hopefully when the heavy stuff arrives in an hour or so it'll turn back to snow...
