About 1cm of snow in Stevenage. A nice covering on all surfaces. The gritters were out doing the rounds.

Well this business is not easy is it! The area of snow has taken a more westerly vector than any model predicted and as of now I am about 10 miles south of its edge and possibly staying that way for a while ! I see Oxford and now into Wiltshire look good with 6cm reported from Newbury. It will continue to ease south so all not lost for S Hants and Surrey.

Trace amounts on radar yet sizeable flakes outside... visible just beyond the window despite lack of light.

Setting as readily as I've ever seen down here - the ground usually puts up a fight!

Turns out I was lucky enough to be underneath a tiny area of slightly enhanced precipitation.

The bigger blob is bearing down on Salisbury now. Looking like a glancing blow here but hey, I was only expecting a dusting until this evening's radar imagery came along.

Better placed than me James. See that cup-shaped hole in SE Hants that is dry - I'm in that LOL.
One day I might learn to understand the wonderful intricacies and often poetic nature of this cruel hobby we follow.

On second thoughts, sod it I'm off to bed 🙂

I assume this is all fluffy powdery snow falling that you're all reporting?

Light snow and a covering in Basingstoke. Report from the wife in Alton confirmed some snow there an hour ago with temps below -1'c

It has been snowing, albeit lightly for about 4 hours in Basingstoke. As you might expect, everything is white although the cover is still thin. I'll check it in an hour when I have to unlock the gates

Having missed the original batch of snow (which ended up much further west than anything was showing last night), it's doing the snow equivalent of drizzling now - lots of tiny little flakes. There was nothing on the radar when it started snowing and there's still nothing on the radar now - just the lightest of snow showing a few miles away.

It's now +0.3C / dew -1.6C, having been below freezing until an hour or so ago.

EDIT: The dewpoint is up to -1.3C now and the snowflakes have become larger. Still nothing on the radar though!

This may look a little like a hoar frost, but it's actually a thin dusting of snow. First lying snow since 2013 here.

Had a slight sifting of grains this morning but they show up because of the frost.

People down south and miles away have had more snow from tonights attempt than i have even though I'm closer to the source. I still have the trace amount that fell when nothing was on the radar, all subsequent areas of ppn that have looked heavy and on course have either fizzled and broke up with a core going to the west and another to the east or gone straight over the top with nothing falling!

And they say snow shields don't exist (add smiley from top of page here, site/device wont let me).

First significant fall of snow for some time here. Took a while to clear the car this morning. Drivers skidding on the hill up into the station car park. Not very nice at all. Main roads are fine though.

Am sitting in a train carriage in the pitch black as all power to the carriage has been lost. Fortunately the rest of the train has enough power to keep us moving up to London. Thank goodness for modern technology. My iPad means I can still read the paper.

Reasonable covering in North West Hampshire.

Decided  to continue using my usual route to work in South Oxfordshire  on  minor roads across the downs.  Several inches up there.  I was the first  to use a stretch of the road, seemed a  shame to destroy the pristine white blanket.

All major routes I touched completely clear (A34  south of Oxford / A339  through Newbury)
