I've noticed this winter, that many of the resident whingers, naysayers, poopooers and so called 'realists' have had some nice episodes. Just proves to me, there is no god!

Edit: make that +2.0/+1.4 meh!!!

Woke up to 3cm of snow on all surfaces here in Poole

Woke up to a nice 2 to 3cm cover of proper dry snow on most surfaces.  Another snow shower in progress now.

From reports I've heard on local radio, sounds like the Lincs Wolds have  been badly hit.

Looking at the radar at last midnight I thought we were just about to miss out on all the action and watching the area of ppn farther to the west of us on the map, the tail end of ppn seemed to pull more heavier ppn off of the north sea that moved further inland. Ive a morning appointment today I am not there. I will miss being hit by a ninga snowball at work. Lol. Plenty of nice christmas card scenery to capture.
Observations from around GUILDFORD in SURREY and now Nottingham

2.5cm of powder here overnight. My daughters were very excited at looking out of the window this morning, in fact mesmerised would be a better expression; the first decent snowfall they have seen for over 2 years.

However, all the roads are gritted, all the schools are open, and there is no "chaos" or "gridlock" like the Daily Express would have you believe, or some of the Scottish posters on here would like to imply...

chilly, a dusting of snow over night a few flurries at the moment wont amount to much.

Next batch incoming - if it falls as snow here, it'll fall as snow anywhere...I feel an old Sinatra song coming on "If I could, flake it there, I'll flake it, anywhare, except for you, you dork, you dork!"

Well that has to be one of the most unexpected snowfalls for many a year.

Went to bed at 11.00pm with very light snow falling and expecting maybe a covering, woke up to a level 5cms!! Everything white, stuck nicely to the trees, pavements and the lane through our village, a lovely wintry scene. Best snowfall since Jan 13.

I have now had so many days with so falling I am going to have to change my sig!

The NW as expected produced nothing, but the N/NE has certainly produced the goods!

laughing

BTW - is there a site where I can see the last 12 hours radar, this snow does seem to have been very localised?

Zero snowfall here in this crapfest of a cold spell but at least we've managed our first frost in over two weeks.

Light snow continues but it's above freezing now and dps 0 so the slow decay has started.
Measure about 2cm in places so the lanes and fields look picturesque but it's not causing any problems - shame!

That could be that for now, maybe.

Looks like I might have missed some snow at home then. I was in South Devon yesterday (Woodbury near Exeter) and there were some brief showers of proper snow. Also some patchy snow lying beside the higher reaches of the A361 over Exmoor.

Interesting to see on Meteox, the same feature now reinvigorated off the Brest Peninsula - presumably as a result of the higher SSTs off there.
