The radar shows something coming in from Northern France that will hit here around mid afternoon. Not sure what it is yet but I'm hopeful because its a good direction for us down here.

Feeling very raw here today in the wind, which is fresh to strong at the moment the temp is 5C currently.

The sky also has that snowy potential look to it so fingers crossed.

Been snowing lightly here for about an hour now giving a covering. Still a bit left in places from Tuesday morning's couple of inches, so readily turning white again

Mornin' all from a dry and cloudy Folkestone. I think today is going to be a make or break day for me in terms of not just the possible local snow event but as a local amateur forecaster.

We had a period of snow, moderate at times this morning. Here in Arborfield the snow was not really settling, there was just a bit of slush on the grass and car windscreens. The car said it was +0.5C.

I then took my daughters to school in nearby Eversley, which is slightly lower down than here. There it was -0.5C and the snow was settling on most surfaces. Then I drove back to Arborfield, which was still green and +0.5C.

Very light now and nowhere near as good as the fall on Tuesday IMHO.

All surfaces covered though.

Air temp of 3C and dewpoint just under 1C and yet light snow falls even by the beach.

How odd.

I just drove 10 mins into the Staffs Moorlands and there certainly is no thaw up on there. Down on the edge of Stoke we only have snow in shaded areas but its still deep on the tops with lots of snow piles.

Just had a graupel shower rattle through here.

But it seems that the "epic" snow event I tried to forecast for my local area is slipping away before my eyes as the sun comes back out again.

Oh well, I gave it a shot. While it appears that I'm getting my Facebook group page forecast wrong, I hope my readers do understand how difficult it is to forecast such events and why I usually am reluctant to issue snow warnings unless it is deemed necessary.

Sleet.

There is a weak warm front heading south today hence the sleet/snow turning to light rain.

really starting to blow now, air feels colder, sky looks cleaner, clouds taking that shower (convective) look about them.

Well looks like there is rain over most of East Anglia and SE:

Doesn't looks snow or sleety even. I must admit - I work up to +3c with no frost either.

Dunno, Steve and Ian, the stream of showers in the North Sea appear to be fragmenting. I'm really not hopeful now.
