The blizzards of yesterday have given way to periods of heavy snow today and despite milder air filtering across later today, temperatures will still hover around freezing. Good news: more and potentially heavy snow again likely through this coming week

As a bonus, I took a bit of night footage of the snow:

Note: At around 0:20s, I did a quick U-turn and back tracked. Reason: Some girls saw me through their window and it could have looked like I was a perv.... and so I legged it

Nice pictures, I can only dream of seeing snow like that over here.

Question. Why have those cars got the window wipers sticking out?

Is it possibly so they can find their cars after the snow?

Re: wipers. After driving, the wipers obviously get wet from heater etc. I also put them up to stop them from freezing and sticking to the windscreen.

Great set of photos !!

Since your last stay in Norway I have copied the windscreen wiper thing . Looks silly but does stop them sticking and then loosing the rubber.

Good idea Paul.... the rubber is easily damaged on the wipers and with the prices over here, it is always best to save on wear and tear

If you'd asked me to guess your altitude I would have guessed about 1,500. So I would have been well out.

Indeed Gavin. I actually think our altitude is perfect. High enough for the snow from the W; NW is just awesome for really heavy snow - such is the alignment of the valley - which also serves to give us shelter from any mild muck from the SW. Our height means we can also benefit from inversions when the warmer 850s cross over. Best of both! Of course, sometimes we will get some rain but by in large, it isn't heavy and it isn't long before the temperatures gets the right side of zero. Talking of mild, I am expecting the temperatures to creep to 1-2c for a few hrs this evening as those warm 850s cross our way. It is the warm front bring the current snow this afternoon.

Cheers Marcus

I know I'm really late to this, but those pictures are excellent and I'm wondering how you got the opportunity to live in such an extraordinary place?

Cheers for that

In short, I just packed my bags and went to live in a village in Norway with nothing - back in 1999. No job, language, contacts or much money. The rest is history
