The view from south Edinburgh up towards the Pentlands earlier today. The Pentlands Hills Have been snow covered for 7 days now. I nipped down to Peebles this afternoon for a walk and the Southern Uplands are full of snow. Greatest depth was around Penicuik SE of Edinburgh, easily 4 inches

Well besides the 6 flakes or so that I got rid of off my windscreen this morning we have nothing here. Travel about 8 miles to the west and there is lying snow which gets more until you reach Ixworth (about 15 miles from here) lots of slush and ice this morning and a 4ft Snowman. Go out to Bury St edmunds another 5 miles west and I'm told there was nothing.

Fun and games tonight - This shortwave appeared at short notice yesterday and seems likely to affect a number of us tonight. It's a scenario that delivers locally so fingers crossed. Meto warnings out for Hampshire .....

Outbreaks of sleet and snow will spread from the northwest on Saturday, initially into western Scotland, and then into parts of northwest England later in the day before reaching the Midlands and southern England during the evening and night. 1-3 cm snowfall is likely at low levels with 5-10 cm possible above 200 metres across western Scotland and Cumbria. Ice may prove an additional hazard in places.

Please be aware of the potential for some travel disruption and difficult driving conditions.

Slight dusting here. Nothing to get excited about. Heading to the Glens of Foudland for a spot of sledging - hopefully a bit more snow there!

Will lock this thread and perhaps reopen it for general use after the current short term event has passed. Needless to say as this location seems to be turning into one of the most snowless in the UK. There is no snow here currently!
