Just looking at the track being taken by the coldfinger™. Is it possible for this to set up some sort of Thames streamer for parts of the home counties?

Just went outside with a torch. Very very light something falling. Looks like drizzle but can hear it falling.

and in the last hour my iPhone app has changed from 10 hours of snow to 7 hours of rain followed by a bit of snow. :(

edit... and forecast now  changed again to mostly snow.

Much better than expected! I am near Leeds centre now and there is a good covering here but quite wet. Will be a winter wonderland at home and more to come.

Last post of the evening cod I'm on a night out from herein, but seriously cool last minute snow for me! Solid inch everywhere, ample for some snowball fights and pretty pictures. Feeling like winter at last!

Disappointment of those where it is raining currently may be premature... It's forecast to turn slightly colder from the east through the night and for precipitation to intensity potentially.

However, it's impossible to predict with any accuracy if or how much snow you'll get. It's a nowcast situation and we're all in the lap of the weather gods... The BBC snow forecasts are constantly changing regarding times and intensity. Due to get heavy snow for a few hours in early hours but I wouldn't bet much on it actually happening. On the positive side, it's currently sitting precisely on 0c with the snowflakes from an early very light fall sitting unmelted on the car roof and windscreen.

Been snowing here since 1100....and in this coastal town in Ayrshire we have 3in of snow. Anyone who knows this area will understand how difficult it is to get lying snow.
