Well this cold snap produced big time for me and it was very unexpected. The last forecast I saw showed the snow maybe brushing the west coast of Cumbria sometime late Saturday evening and didn't see another until this afternoon.
the day started with a temp of -4.4 and a gorgeous walk in a frosty sub zero conditions, the cloud rolled in about 2 pm and finally at 4 began to snow and it began settling immediately and soon began mounting up. It carried on till 9pm and left nearly 4 inches here and most of the evening was spent outside with the kids sledging, snowball fighting in glorious snowy, streetlight silent scenes. Fantastic day as was not expecting it and plenty more sledging to be done tomorrow! Superb!

My car has started to have a slight covering on. Just for a change of scenery in the morning would be nice , kids would go mad.

Been snowing steadily for 2 hours or so.... Nice covering - hopeful there's be enough to take kids sledging in the morning!

Well, the dew point has dropped by almost a degree in the last hour to 0.0C, temp 0.7C, now snowing, intermixed with the drizzle, but that will probably become all snow once the dew point has dropped a bit more.

Not quite what I had hoped for, but at least it's snow.

Well there's been enough snow in Kendal that some idiot came round the corner too fast and smashed into the back of our car parked outside our house    We were in and heard it happen, the driver just drove off.  Managed to catch up with them and get their details though, they weren't expecting that.  The tow bar is now touching the bumper. Here's hoping that it's not damaged the chassis.

Anyway, here's some pictures of snowy trees

Finding it difficult to get to sleep above the hum of the Folkestone Rain Deflector (it is just as effective on snow). All the models are snowing the snow to slip by over West Kent while East Kent is expected to stay dry in the small hours and it appears to be going that way looking at the radars. Disappointed? Yes. Surprised? No.
And even if the snow does move a little further east, I've seen how them thar hills to the north of the town acts like a giant filter whenever anything wintry come in under a north west wind. A pity as the dewpoint is easily low enough to support snow if needs be.

Clearly nothing here but have just driven my son into Town where it is 5.0 degrees and yet at home (7m above sea level) there was a thin layer of frost on my windscreen and temp of just 2.0 degrees (coldest of the winter so far down here)!

2 inches of snow here and it's a veritable winter wonderland out there.
With very little wind every tree, branch and twig is just coated in snow.
Marvelous, just marvelous :)

Bad news: snow very light indeed at the mo.
Good news: temp is -0.1c and Met Office have extended 'heavy snow' until 3am with temps at zero 😀, light some until 7am.

Interesting how localised this is: -Mendips, Quantocks, Moors, Salisbury Plain, Brecon Beacons, Welsh highlands seeing rain - including Snowdonia when snow can fall right down to sea level as far south as Brighton & Eastborne.

It's 12am now but raining in London AT 3C.

Seems to be nothing falling from the sky despite quite heavy returns on the radar. Very odd.

Coming to an end here now. We've got about 1.5-2cm on all surfaces. Less than I'd hoped, more than I'd feared - and more than it looked like putting down at 8pm.

Just checked the temp record today & we had a max of 0.6c - adds to the frustration of having snow falling for so long but not getting a deeper covering.
