Poor overall, especially compared to what we've been used to! 

1 point for at least being a refreshing change to the dross we endured previously.

1 point for the snowfall (2cm!)

1 point for a couple of frosts, but this was disappointing too as there were many cloudy days/nights.

Obviously the models are looking sh.ite tonight because a thread about a non-existent cold spell down here keeps getting bumped.

What cold spell

Considering it occurred in mid January,the coldest part of the winter allegedly,a pretty lame effort even for these parts of the country.2 air frosts,the only 2 air frosts this winter it was more akin to late Novembers of yesteryear.Nice to feel some sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday though so 2 out of 10. For comparison,Imo February 1986 and December 2010 would both score 10/10 for cold and the longevity of those cold spells.

While it was infinitely superior to the rest of the winter, as a cold spell it was dreadful. Shockingly bad for January. Didn't get to -5C, only two nights as low as -2C, no ice days, only wet snow with no accumulation and it even rained at one point. Didn't even get any good sunsets or sunrises. Therefore can't give it any marks so 0/10.

Some very good frosts , some nice cold days and two coverings of snow , only slight but nice to see

It ticked a few boxes for a wintry spell.

1) Snowfall, some of which lay on the ground for half a day.

2) Harsh frosts, 3 consecutive nights of -5°c or below, -5.8°c being the lowest. 7 frosts in all, 4 x air, 3 x ground.

3) Sunshine and blue skies, although not that cold during daylight hours, around 4 or 5°c.

The major let down was it did not last long enough, but compared to some recent winters, this was an improvement

To get a proper winter period we need an Easterly really, so 5/10 from me.

2/10. Not a flake of snow seen though I experienced 2 fairly decent overnight air frosts followed by lovely clear sunny days, but probably only serendipitously by virtue of temporary relocation to a county far from MBY. Nothing really outside of the expected variation of normal winter weather.

Here on Teesside (at sea level) it was certainly a 1/10. No snow,no real cold, not even sleet and only 1 real frost.

1 point for the -7C start on Wednesday morning and cold day that preceded it,
1 point for the fact we did see some snow, albeit 0.5cm of slush that lasted a couple of hours - so better than Winter 2013/4 but not by much!

There was a cold spell? Must have missed it by blinking as it felt pleasantly mild by day due to the sunshine and lighter winds, which went a long way in shifting the dampness after that wet start to this month. The only giveaway was a frost at night, but then again I haven't got to be dealing with an early morning motorbike commute to a rural hilltop greenhouse in the middle of nowhere, so I guess I'm not quite so exposed to the cold these days.
  However, all of this is preferable to the silly wind and rain of two winters ago, and with that to mind, I'll give it 3.5/10 and that's being generous. As a cold spell in it's own right at my own back yard, it's not exactly going to be something I could tell my nephew's children 20 years later.

For what was meant to be the coldest spell since 2013 - has been absolutely rubbish!

Only a slight frost, not even a wet flake of snow, no ice days. Only a few minutes of hail when the rain turned heavier last Thursday night but - the temperatures rose in the showers during the night and never fell.

Seasonal temperatures of 6.4c one day (I think Saturday) before rising during the night - when they should have fallen.

There was a chance of disruptive snow" both beginning of week and end and neither materialised.

Absolute crap! 0/10

Was a cooler spell...NOT a cold spell.
