What a hopelessly inadequate cold spell this has been. Worse than the others during this dreadful winter. -2.1C low this week and a trace of snow. Not even as good as last week we had 2cm and a low of -2.4C which is disgusting for an absolute low in February

Total waste of space of a winter though only the first half was as bad as 2013/14. Second half has been far less unpleasant but still utter garbage.

The only thing as bad as this run of winters are the BBC/Met Office forecasts which went for a sunny day today despite the model output, for today, showing grey muck all week. Unsurprisingly there wasn't a blink of sun all day. No doubt the same tomorrow since it's the weekend.

Ultimate horror show would be the first half of 15/16 blended with the second half of 13/14. Perhaps that is to come next year. One thing is for sure I won't be looking forward to winter again. This has been one write-off too many

You would have thought that there was "Something to offer for everyone!" well b*ll*cks to that! -Yes we got floods ...wind and rain. I remember back in the end of November and early December (when it was already 13 or +14c and wet) well before the floods in Cumbria, I thought - "Oh well it's only December we have a good 2 months left of winter" and now we are in Spring next week and still only at the best experiencing 1 or 2 days of drier weather in a row. Scotland get's some cold crisp weather at least. We can't get a decent enough frost let alone snow. Tomorrow night has a low of +2c or +3c because it will be windy and cloudy preventing a the temperatures from falling and a frost.

Sunday night maybe frosty but then it will cloud over in the morning before rain heads in Monday afternoon evening into Tuesday. If Buxton is struggling to have snow and Aberdeen only manages a 2cm's of wet snow which melts within a day then what are the chances for southern most area's to see snow!?

Helen Willett's said it could be the warmest winter on record!

Utter c**p! - Roll on spring! - What will pee me off would be if we get low pressure in the Azores in the Spring and Summer but HP to the NE!! It's always the case.

The most lightest of wintry shower has just flitted past by me under this cold north east wind here at Folkestone village. That's my lot for this winter, time to look forward to the first proper spring-like warmth.

PS: At least the sun's coming back out now after what has been a fairly cloudy start to the day.

I've seen snow falling a couple of times this winter, here, but only brief showers that didn't even settle.

Thank god we didn't get the rancid easterly synoptics that the models were showing at the start of the week. Under the high pressure we had clear skies and a diurnal range of 10.7C (min -2.1C, max 8.6C) - about 10C higher than the easterly would have given and about 10 hours sun more as well. Managed 9.95 hours which is the highest I have recorded for a February day

Wasn't a cold spell - We had a max of +9c today and it did feel fresher in a lighter breeze - I don't know where the bbc got the "feeling bitterly cold" from. Just average temperatures really.

Our beloved council gardeners are currently mowing the embankment along my street and the smell of freshly cut grass wafting through an open window is lush. I think I'll look on it as a proper closure on this winter season and accept that any wintry weather does crop up from here onwards will be unwanted late surprise events.

We had half hour of heavy hail/snow at mid-day, covered everything even though it was very wet underneath, first covering of the winter...spring, soon melted but a nice surprise, would upload pics if I could work it out...

Aye, we are moaning about the fact that Winter hasnt even started to show the merest glimmer of a hint of starting yet.

But there is always a chance of snow in July.

Well, as much chance as there is in December, January or February!

Interestingly the Manchester Winter Index for 12th December 2015 to 11th March 2016 is 41

Winter Index for 2013-14 was just 7

With a nice dry spell appearing, the timing is a bit unfortunate - 2 weeks later would have given the country a well-deserved break and a holiday at the same time.

Just 3 dry days so far and constant below average temperatures but with absolutely nothing in the way of decent snow or frost to make up for the garbage winter. Just more transitory rubbish and shallow frosts.

At least the first week despite being cold and unsettled was reasonably sunny. 2nd week has been beyond vile with practically no sunshine since Tuesday lunchtime

Now we have yet another filthy overcast and damp Saturday just like the overwhelming majority in the last 6 months. Never known anything like this sustained period of unrelentingly grim and depressing crap week in week out. It's beyond the pale and, as repellent as it's been here, I was shocked to see how much worse it has been in Edinburgh with this site http://www.swanstonweather.co.uk/ showing Saturday has aggregated only about 6.5hours sun in total since the start of winter
