Brilliant convective day; temps reached 11C in the sun then plummeted to 6C in the showers; hail in drifts up against the plant pots; deluges, downdrafts and rainbows, but no thunder here yet.
Flash of lightning then a roll of thunder. Raining now. Pressure 990.7 hpa.
Hailstones now.
Couple of flashes here - and now some moderate rain.
Seems to be a rapidly developing area of convection directly to the south (over Portsmouth) and drifting this way.
Storm, gusty wind and brief hail.
Few moderate splats here in portsmouth nothing heavy though, and yes a few distant rumbles heard 😊
Its like a summers evening out there. Lightning appearing to the south with thunder booms in the distance getting nearer. A few fat drops of rain a few minutes ago as the atmosphere continues to destabilise. 14.1c.
Getting a bit grumbly and flashy now. Off to spectate. An early start to the plume season!
8 out of 10 thunderstorm. You would struggle to get one as good as this in the height of summer.
Radar is looking quite active for you both Steve and Ian. On the rainfall radar, only looks like relatively small blob causing it all.
EDIT: Sorry left you out WI in Dover.
Torrential rain, thunder and lightning. Cracker! first of the summer season!!!!!
Kicking off big time. Scary. - heading towards Thanet Buddy!
Seems to be a line travelling up the East Kent coast.

Well, that was actually a corker of a storm, back to back rumbling and forked lightning. However, I spent half the time spectating the storm and the other half trying to calm my elderly mother. It's moved on now, got 4.2 mm of rain out of it but as a lightning storm, that was quite impressive.

Ho hum, escaped the best of it in the end. Around 7 reasonable flashes, and one or two spurs of heavy rain, now fizzling out by the looks of things. Still, I saw more flashes than I did snowflakes in winter!
It was a beast here in Dover, probably one of the most notable storms of the last 10 years. Short but violent, the Denis Wise of storms. A real surprise package.
