I don't know how we missed any thunder this evening here in Guildford but we did with a few drops of rain to damp the dust down. 🙂
The reports look mouth watering tho. 🙂

Incredible plumy and ominous stormscapes in the evening. While the main thrusts of lightning activity went just to my west and later my east, I still enjoyed half a dozen good forks of lightning and downpours.

What was the main reason for this briefest of plumes being surprisingly active? It was certainly an unusual sight for so early in the season!

It even reached the North Norfolk area with a few rumbles, and a couple of closer ones.  Unexpected, although I did wonder what the dog was growling at 10 minutes earlier!!  Note to self: Take notice of what the dog is telling you!!

Convergence zone activity looks to be the name of the game this afternoon. One looks to be setting up along the A1 in N. England, other areas of activity showing up in the Midlands.

A beefy shower rattled through here at 6pm, plenty of rain fell in nice big convective drops, too. It ended with a broken but very strong rainbow towards the base of the cloud

A really odd day, heavy rain, close lightning but a couple miles away to the north and west, for the bulk of the region, totally dry

Chaotic skies! Usually indicative of thundery weather! 'Twas a fine day here but great cloudscapes at times - the AM radio was indicating some activity in the region

Big shower clouds going up now.. They have that summer popcorn storm look to them.

Metoffice have heavy rain later for us, wouldn't be surprised if the crack of thunder is heard.

The weather man said it would be a lovely spring day with the chance of a light isolated shower. 😐

Clear lightning strike just seen to the north of here,  underneath a very dark and impressive CB approaching from the NW.  Rumble of thunder heard.

Edit:  Heavy hail and rain shower just came through.

Just had a little cloud burst rattle out office windows. Heavy rain (not noteworthy) with a little hail in the shower. Typical April stuff for now 😊

Screen shot of scuds..
