Parts of Wales, Midlands and EA look like being in the firing line today, with localised but possibly quite potent storms possible this afternoon.

Must be pretty strong storm, as although it is sunny here I can hear the distant thunder.. Thought it was sonic booms, of which we have had several today, but looking on lightning page - its not!!!

Big black cloud to the NW an hour ago, too far away to hear thunder.

Going back to this time yesterday, heavy slow moving thundery showers just to the NW, but sunny here. In Gt Yarmouth, a house got struck by lightning, injuring 2 people;

Is there anyhere where I can see a radar image of what was going on over Birmingham yesterday afternoon (14th) at around 4.30 - 5pm ?

I was driving in from the M42 passing Birmingham Airport though very intense rain and it would be interetsing to see the radar for that !!

No thunder but some very heavy & persistent downpours this afternoon. No need for a rain gauge to see that around 1 inch of rain has fallen in past 3 hours or so.. It has filled an empty dog bowl up.
No idea on how much in total has fallen since midnight. 😏

No thunder accompanying the heavy rain currently falling in Sittingbourne but a visit to Lightningmaps.org suggests that Germany is taking a pummeling although the storms might just skirt to the north of Berlin, just...

Cross-posting this pic from the snow thread as it;s probably better off in here, judging by the excellent photos above from picturesareme
