Nimby but May finishing up pretty much how it was throughout here

^^ May is often the best month 'out West', so I'm hoping that normal service will resume in the Jun-Sep period and this depressing grey sheet will take residence in its rightful home - i.e Ireland, and the better weather will return to where it's supposed to be - i.e areas east of the Pennines. ;-)

A day of vile, depressing grot here to end yet another poor month. Just about the worst day of May with slate grey skies and a disgustingly strong, cold wind. Barely into double figures and felt like winter. Had to wear gloves when out at lunchtime which has never happened anywhere near this late in the season before. Proof that anticyclonic northerlies are more miserable than anticyclonic easterlies at this time of year

These conditions just couldn't be any worse, both for giving a springlike feel and aiding spring growth. The lack of warmth, lack of sun, lack of rain and ever present nagging wind are all dreadful for plant life

Awful spring that just pipped 2014 to the post to be dullest of the century so far. Now 5 duller than average months out of 6, and 9 out of 13 since May 2015. Repulsive run of weather that just keeps on getting worse and worse. February has been the only month this year to see the normal W/SW flow and therefore the only one not to be thoroughly unpleasant

Well, the high was just 14C here today - lovely, there's even a "nip in the air" feeling indoors!

A very pleasant day here over the other side of the hills, max temp 19.3C. Cloud began spilling in from the east properly only a couple of hours ago but still with bright/sunny intervals.

Yes that 25c can't be correct. It reached 20c at Leuchars before the sea breeze kicked in so I'd reckon 22c or so the max for Dundee. Been a MUCH better day here in NE Fife  with sunshine all day!

Right now in south Devon:

A good month, reached 22c here today, no where near as warm as 2008, but mean max this month have been over 4c higher than last May.

Delightful day today. Pi$$ed down with rain for much of it.

I have to say what a glorious long bank holiday weekend it was on Dartmoor.  5 days of warm sunshine and a pleasant breeze making perfect walking and camping conditions

If we get nothing more this year I wont be disappointed (after all, whats the point in warm sunny weather when you are at work anyway?)

Absolutely stunning period of weather here - it seems so long since we had day after day of clear, blue skies and warmth! I think this is now the 5th day in a row of these perfect summer conditions and it looks like staying this way for another few days 

It reminds me of being on holiday waking up every morning to the sun blazing away in cloudless blue skies.

I couldn't agree more. The broad scope that this thread offers has allowed all kinds of conversation this spring that wouldn't fit into other threads so we wouldn't have had such a great conversation. We do need a summer thread and I hope that the OP will start one soon. Threads like this are a brilliant archive for the future because its one thing to look back on stats in years to come but to be able to look back at how people actually felt at the time is really valuable.

After a burst of heavy rain with a strong northerly wind making the 13 C feel colder than it needs to be, I've had to turn on the living room electric heater for mother.

However, the flip side is what with it being half term and living in a built up area, it's keeping those brats holed up indoors hopefully doing something constructive.

Vile weather here for the first day of summer in the flatlands.
