BBC News reporting 35mm in one hour in South London this afternoon, with appropriate pictures of flash flooding
I managed to cycle home in time to avoid the onslaught.....which never came! A few rumbles around at the moment, but bone dry!

Seeing the occasional big flashes, along with torrential rain.
An intense storm has kicked off around Witney in the last 30 mins. Incredible rainfall rate and frequent thunder and lightning. Best I've seen for years.

The thunder had long since stopped, but it's still p***ing down with 16.5 mm this evening. Probably end up with over 20 mm by the time this is done with us. At least it's not being accompanied with strong gusty winds.
Good analysis snow 2004. Macc's taken a real pasting !

All quiet here now after earlier flashes and rumbles from activity mainly a few miles to the NE - closest flash was from a cc stroke about a mile away. Around 30mm from some torrential rain at times this evening.
Nothing in my area. Bit disappointed..
Enjoyed several dozen C-G bolts from yesterday evening's cell just a few whiskers to my E/SE - happy days.
Today, a risk of thundery showers persists for some. Although they are unlikely to be quite as intense as yesterday, they will be slow moving and so could cause disruption to some.
The MetO have issues a banana-shaped warning from NW England through to parts of the SE:

Managed to get online now after last night violent storm over head here in Langley, and nearly 30 mins of very loud thunder and lot of lightning. It cut off my BT internet until this morning I borrowed the internet from next door who using SKY. The storm had knock out the BT internet. Really violent one yesterday and lot of heavy rain. One to remember of the intensity of the storm.
An impressive line of towering cumulus stretching round from the SE to NE. Winds very light easterly, 23.2 C @ a muggy 79% RH.

For once the local scroats smashing car windows comes in handy!
Not expected to see much activity today here
Storm to the north fizzled out, just a moderate shower now.
21.4c max. 25.2c
1.0mm
Looks lively on the radar around Wembley.
A few recent distant deep rumblings from a cell in the Sandbach area and to the west of Stoke-On-Trent.
Just had a crack of thunder now! This rain is ridiculous!
MetO playing catch-up with their weather warnings this afternoon! Probably more of a clearance in cloud cover than anticipated - certainly very warm and muggy here at 21c and rising. Quite a cluster of storms between Leicester and Sheffield, others north of Brum and on Welsh borders. Also band of quite heavy showers into NW England, not as electrically active as yet.
EDIT: And looking at the wind chart on http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ there's also quite a few convergence zones showing up
