Unbelievably localised showers today. Hammering down in Wantage, roads dry at home 5 miles away. Radar would have us believe we'll get washed away but not much to see outside....

It's gone quiet here now. Still have light rain but no electrical activity.

I think you'll be getting a bit more Steve. We still have it here but it looks to be mainly on my west and the lightning map is showing it between Chesterfield and Doncaster. It's slow moving and seems stuck in our area again.

We only have light rain with slightly heavier bursts. Some distant rumbles of thunder and some much closer. We always do well for electrical storms here but I expect that's due to being just to the east of the Pennines.

Tremendous storm here in south Oxfordshire this evening. Lots of thunder & lightning overhead and incredibly heavy rain, proper cloudburst. There was flash flooding in the village as drains were overwhelmed and water was spurting up from manhole covers. Roads, paths and gardens became rivers for a time. Really were incredible scenes for a short time. Fantastic stuff 🙂

When was the last time we had so many storms daily without the Spanish plumes? This week has been quite exceptional really. The skies have had a really low, angry black look about them today.

Homegrown storms are much more common for most of the UK ( away from the far south maybe) then the classic plume mid/high based storm's that can give some fantastic light shows at night.

It is all bubbling up around me, but for now I'm right in the middle of it with a dry and bright slot. A bit like being in the eye of a hurricane.

Getting murky and large ploppy drops coming down. Not much in the way of electrical activity in the area atm - just a couple of strikes showing just now, west of Manchester.

A Red Arrow display scheduled for 2 pm this afternoon had to be called off due to poor weather conditions at Ipswich, where they were stationed.

Update: 20 minutes later and it's now 15.6 mm and still raining but not as heavy.

Lots of thunder and lightning all around here, I can hear regular rumbles of thunder, some quite close, but nothing but rain overhead. This seems to have been the theme these last few weeks good storms passing by but always missing us.
