Slap bang!! Direct hit for Portsmouth, though nothing amazing lightning wise. One near overhead "bang' type.

Some torrential rain with 18mm in a 13 minute burst 😮😋 and it continues to pour though not as heavily.

As I mentioned the other day, a line of hit and miss storms looks like forming along plume exterior from Portsmouth through London, later onto Cambridge into Norwich. The beasties inside the plume look like continuing to the SE of this line.

Been watching the storm at Capel with Steve. Second likely Channel runner providing pyrotechnics. Awesome cloud formations earlier.

Another bit of thundery stuff has just passed by the south of my location, got to see some more forks but again it was out at sea mostly out of harms way.

Currently raining but only 2.4 mm measured.

Constant thunder and lightning here for the last 20 minutes. Sheet lightning that lights up the whole horizon to our south and very deep rumbling thunder. Reminds me of the way the sound of thunder roles around and bounces off of the mountains and down into the valleys in the Alps. Now raining as well and becoming increasingly heavier 😀👌

Wow. Awoken by strikes basically directly above my house. Not once but three times. Not ashamed to say it freaked me out a little. It sounded like a warzone!
It seems to have moved on a little now, so can appreciate the incredible rainfall rate.

Biblical! Garage is flooded. Thundering at various rates and distances since 10pm. The last hour has been "entertaining"

Glowering skies, rumbling thunder like malevolent bass drums, torrential rain and pyrotechnical flashes, the weather is mirroring the political mood and this can only be interpreted as an ill omen.

Woke up at 4.15 am to occasional flashings and heavy rain. It's now 6.15 am and the lightning part appears to have moved on now but it is still raining moderately. I've picked up 14.4 mm since my last station reset at 11 pm last night, not really that exceptional but is classed as being very wet anyway.

Also feeling very muggy under at 17.4 C and 92% humidity, both values were actually higher an hour ago!  I'm sweating like a cornered nun stuck on a car bonnet.

Winds are being light, thankfully.

Models have been trying to pin this threat down over past couple of days, and whilst things may well change some more, this:
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/brack1.gif

has fun and games for our friends in the SE corner written all over it.

GFS 12z does seem to keep the main threat over the Low Countries, so may be a Kent clipper, but things will change again no doubt by tomorrow.

Mad storms last night, pets and children quivering under respective duvets! Lightning and instant thunder directly overhead at about 2:30, and my very unscientific straight-sided bucket in the middle of the driveway had about 2" of water in when I left Hampshire at 6am. Horrendous surface water all the way to London.

No trains from Brighton and south coast generally into Victoria this morning because of flooding at Wandsworth. Network Rail spokesman saying that a sheet of water had been pouring off Wandsworth Common

Officially 27mm fell at Thorney overnight but as a lot of the precipitation was a little west of Thorney it's safe to say we copped more then that.

We were already 24mm when I went to bed last night around 12.45am!!
