Big storm made its way to Aylsham from London. Started at 7pm and so far had 30mm, that's half the monthly average rainfall in just one hour! Plenty of thunder and lightning.

Lightning struck a Thameslink train @st albans earlier, 3 miles from me, and a signal box. No service at all on Thameslink st pancras to Bedford, commuter chaos in the home counties 🤓

Possible tornado but defined funnel cloud none the less.

In car northbound somewhere in Northumberland not sure where I am.

Only had one clear view and it was a quacking beauty looked like a debris cloud with it.

Caught a few partial glimps withy camera phone afterwards...

Images from first are pretty poor and unclear so won't post them...

But now in Scottish border region and spotted another one attempting to form, at the time hail was hitting the car.

Nothing came of this as dissipated shortly after.

I had a heavy shower that blew through here about an hour ago, producing two rumbles of thunder. Some very convective cloud-scapes at the moment too.

A growler-type cell is hanging close by here, it looks all dark and threatening when viewed from my famed west-facing hobby room window but still dry here at my back yard. It all appears to be very slow moving, which I guess adds to the problem if you happen to be underneath such a cell.

Hi Ian, yes, that cell passed me and grew just to my south, giving me a good view of the action. Several forks witnessed and thunder almost constant for a time, certainly more strikes than lightnngmaps suggested. Also backbuilt a bit of brief action even closer, although was largely just mod-hvy rain. Now brighter.

Isn't this site amazing!

My youngest and I watched the strikes as they occurred, with the radiating 'thunder' circle allowing us to run outside to Mum and say: "Thunder in 3 seconds!" It was spot on every time. I know sound can be accurately predicted, but imagine the excitement of a 9 year old!

Three separate thundery cells today over Sheffield and Dronfield. The last of which has just literally rattled through Dronfield. Only one rumble, but the core developed right overhead and gave us 10 mins of torrential rain.

A fun day!

Another thundery shower here - a few rumbles mainly to the west and a couple of closer cc discharges - the thunder taking  4 seconds to get here - so within a mile or so
