Earlier max of 29 before I got home; now staying above 28C but not getting back up to 29. It is humid, but it's not the hairdryer of yesterday evening; when you step out of an air conditioned store it still hits you!

Feels much more comfortable and fresh today with a nice breeze.. Most unusual for me to say that when the temperature is 25c which under any normal circumstances would be a very warm day, some 5c above average.

This evening the it feels a lot fresher out though still warm...

Strange really going from very humid to fresh with seemingly no change in weather - sunny all afternoon.

Last nights record overnight minimum of 22.9c will not stand now. Unbelievably the sea mist rolled in this afternoon off the English Channel resulting in an 'overnight minimum' at 3pm  of 18.6c.

I just saw on the NOAA global highlights for June that the UK (and E&W) tied its record highest average minimum temperature in June. Did that pass me by? Anyone else notice? I remember a number of mild and cloudy nights but for this to have been a record month is quite remarkable and completely unexpected.

Looks like the trend continued last night.

Minimum here was 23 which has surely got to be an all time record min for this area. Truly incredible as even on the hottest days the min is usually around 18 or 19. Even after midnight it was still 25.3C!

Proper Fohn effect going on with some strong gusty winds at times too. I'm guessing combined with the high uppers it kept us as warm as inner city locations.

Yet again the Dewpoint at Heathrow dipped markedly as the peak afternoon heat arrived. Today it dropped from 18 to 12 in 3 hours (it's now back up only to 14 as the fresher airmass arrives), yesterday it fell from 17 to 13 before rising to 17 again, and of course on Monday we saw the extreme slide from 16 to a lip chapping 3 then back up to 17.

Today's drop happened under westerlies so bang goes my north downs downstream turbulence theory.

Something's definitely afoot at Heathrow. Some fascinating local effect. I'd love to get to the bottom of it.
