Oh

Watch out for cricket ball size hail and 5 feet deep craters this weekend says the UK's most reliable and down to earth weather forecasting journal

Oh darn - someone already posted this.  I know you can call it scare mongering - but I don't think anyone believes these silly stories in the express any more - just treat them as a bit of fun or it'll drive you mad.  I feel for the serious forecasters though who get a bad name from crud like this.

A shift of 150 miles may not be big in a meteorologist's mind if the synoptic pattern is much the same, but it makes a lot of difference on the ground!

According to the latest MetO forecast (and all previous ones I've seen) for the S Midlands: "Cloud and rain will gradually clear north-eastwards overnight " - in fact, as has been obvious all afternoon, it's clearing slowly southeastwards.

And I dont think any forecast (or even the gutter press) predicted today would be the wettest day here of 2014 (to date) with half a month's worth of rain falling?

Don't think the Mets did very well today for my back garden .....

Incidentally it is yet another predictably awful temperature forecast from the BBC forecast for here today. 4 degrees out once again. They only ever seem to get the temperatures correct when it is grey or wet (and not that is not most of the time 😝 )

I wonder how accurate this morning's prediction of a high of 14°c here tomorrow will be?

New- style MetO webpage

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcp3nqsgd#?tab=fiveDay&fcTime=1402527600

Plus: you can see the whole day at a glance as it's now displayed across the page

Minus: more difficult to find the (more interesting IMO) maps and  charts - very much  text and ideograph based which shows, I suppose, ehat the MetO and its web designers think of the educational level of the great Britsh public.
