According to the radar maps, the showers and precipitation out over the North Sea is gradually getting closer to here.

Sadly though, the radar maps are also showing that this is mostly in the form of rain or sleet with any snow now being confined to much further inland and over high ground.

Bah!! Humbug!!😡

Despite very light drizzle on and off today, a surprising amount of snow cover has survived.

Will all be washed away tomorrow, though.

That is still being shown as sleet just to your north and east and although this particular shower has missed the north of Edinburgh altogether, further precipitation which is approaching here is still showing as just falling as rain.

Because of that, the fact that it's snowing where you are doesn't fill me with any hope whatsoever here in NW Edinburgh where I am because I can already see that it's not likely to be snowing here any time soon.

Maybe your precipitation is coming straight off the Forth. Mines coming in from East Lothian and a long land track? Just a thought? My temperature is +0.5 C

There is a very small warning out for snow for the S Pennines but we are not included in that . In fact seems to be less precipitation in the warning area at present.

Just plain rain here with much of the snowcover thawed.   Have to say though the overnight snow event here was the best since March 2018 (BFTE no.2).   Was great walking to work this morning in mostly pristine freshly fallen snow.

Funnily enough, this Winter has started out really quite similar to Winter 1978/79.  It was mostly mild in November until the last week which brought cold N-NW winds and snow showers around coasts.  And then we had a significant snow event on December 2nd, a Saturday morning I remember.   Then it turned milder and more cyclonic.   Hmm, I wonder?....

Had light snow all evening and temp down to -0.3c, winter wonderland again outside . 2cm new snow and around 5cm on the grass where snow has built up over the three snowfalls this week.
Looks like we will get a spell of heavier snow soon and then it will likely turn to freezing rain and then rain.

OK I think this could potentially turn into something if it gets heavier. The temp is absolutely refusing to rise, and I reckon it won't so long as there is a westerly component to the wind.

Its not settling at all, and its still sleety mush; but the radar shows it getting heavier. Some heavier precip could turn everything cold and white I reckon. Not there yet though.

Steady light rain started yesterday afternoon and hasn’t stopped.  I’m surprised to see we still have snow cover this morning albeit much less than yesterday morning.

edit:  Just thought to look on cameras and late last night, rain turned to snow, then back to rain. That explains why we still have snow.

Just a few patches left on the lawn now , high of 4.2c today and plenty of rain, if only it has remained as snow.
