12th June 2023 was a very warm day, a threat of thunderstorms and then between 5.30 and 6 pm, the clouds exploded over Greater Manchester giving a magnificent thunderstorm. One of the best of recent times for the area. Timelapse captures the clouds exploding upwards

Specially impressive, the speed with which the cumulus towers developed, just 5 or 6 minutes, butunless there's a time lapse you just don't notice.

It was a cracker. Didn't see much lightning up my end, but there was a lot of booming thunder and torrential rain from it. Time-lapse of the same day between Bolton and Chorley:
