Some things never change though. It's interesting to see that the forecast totally missed the 30°C (29.8 I think) max here on the 18th!

Indeed, that's when it reached 36 C here at Folkestone (and I have accepted that as an "official" reading). It was as if Hell on Earth had arrived as I was at work in a tomato greenhouse on that morning. However, I managed to get away at 12 pm before the worse of the heat kicked in by mid-afternoon.
  Thankfully the heat relented the next day as it fell back down to 30 C, which felt a lot fresher in comparison!
