Rain mainly in the north west

Wet weather extends across parts of the north and west today. Areas to the south and east stay dry, bright and warm. Tomorrow the rain clears southeastwards to leave sunny spells and showers. The mixed theme continues during Wednesday and Thursday.

Monday starts wet in the north west. Elsewhere it is dry.

Through the day outbreaks of rain spread across Scotland, Northern Ireland, north western England and western Wales. There will be some heavy bursts mixed in, especially in north western Britain. Areas to the south and east remain dry, but after a bright start cloud amounts increase.

Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the north west to 23C (73F) in the south east . See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the area of rain steadily pushes southeastwards, although it becomes more fragmented. To its northwest there will be a mix of clear spells and showers.

Tomorrow a patchy and narrow band of rain clears southeastwards. All areas then have a mix of sunny spells and showers. Quite warm in central and eastern England.

Mixed outlook

Wednesday is expected to bring a mix of sunny spells and showers. Cooler than recently in the south.

Thursday is looking wet in the north west. In the rest of the UK there should be a good deal of dry and bright weather. Windy in the north.

The mixed theme continues on Friday. Showers or longer spells of rain are possible in most areas.
