The north west has showers or longer spells of rain, but in the rest of the UK it will be mostly dry today. It's a similar picture tomorrow, but through the middle part of the week wet periods start to become more widespread as low pressure sinks southwards. Tomorrow showers are expected to be more scattered in the north and the west. Once again, it should be dry and bright in other areas. Temperatures generally similar to today's.

Risk of rain spreading southwards

Low pressure remains close to the north of the UK on Wednesday. That means further showers or longer spells of rain in the north west. In other areas an odd shower is possible, but it will be mainly dry and bright. Warm in central and eastern England.

By Thursday things begin to change. Low pressure sinks southwards and the risk of showers or longer spells of rain increases. However, the south probably hangs on to drier conditions, but temperatures are likely to be a little lower than in recent days.

Friday is currently looking unsettled. Showers or longer spells of rain are possible in all areas.
