Temperatures reached 32°C yesterday in Kew Gardens making it the hottest September day since 2016. Very similar values are expected today and tomorrow. Also, some computer models are now indicating a chance of maximums being a couple of degrees higher on Saturday. However, by Sunday the risk of showers and downpours becomes more widespread and that trend continues early next week. Tonight, showers in the west fade away. Despite there being clear periods, it will be very muggy and in the south it stays quite warm.

Tomorrow, all regions have sunny periods. Temperatures climb above 30°C in some southern and central locations. An odd shower may bubble up, but they are likely to be less widespread than today.

Hot weekend

Saturday probably brings outbreaks of rain to the far north west. The rest of the UK should be dry with sunny periods. Some computer models are suggesting that temperatures could peak at 34°C (93F), which would make it the hottest day of the year.

During Sunday the risk of thundery showers is expected to be more widespread and in northern Scotland there could be longer outbreaks of rain. There will be sunny periods too, with the best of them in central and eastern England where it remains very warm or hot.

Monday is looking mixed. Thundery showers may push farther south and east, but there should be sunny spells too. Temperatures will probably be a little lower than in recent days.
